Sabrina Lentini is one of the guitar-playing teens to earn golden tickets on American Idol in Salt Lake City.
But this isn’t the teen’s first televised singing competition.
Back in 2011, at the tender age of 13, she earned a spot on the cast of the Hub Networks “Majors and Minors.”
She didn’t win; that honor went to Michael Woodard. But she got to work with three former Idol stars — Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks and Adam Lambert — and a host of other big names from the music industry.
Two years later, Sabrina arrives on the Idol scene with a debut EP under her belt. The 5-song “No Price for Love” was released in 2012, and you can check out the title track, which she co-wrote, below.
In Salt Lake, Sabrina auditioned with “Black Horse and a Cherry Tree” and got yes votes from Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban to earn a ticket to the Hollywood round.
“Harry Connick Jr. … he thought maybe I was a little too young, that I needed more time, but I’m ready to prove him wrong,” Sabrina says with a smile in her Road to Hollywood interview.
On iTunes, that debut EP is classified as pop, but Sabrina says she’s familiar with “a lot of different genres and music from all different times, a lot more than my friends or other artists my age” and she’s hoping that serves her well on the show.
Besides, Sabrina says she’s waited a long time to be old enough to try out for Idol.
Her website bio says she started playing guitar at age 10 and started writing songs shortly after that and classifies her music as a mix of pop, rock and roll and folk.
