Rapattoni was introduced to us as a vocal coach at a School of Rock.

But this 19-year-old from Dallas, Texas, didn’t get 76,000 followers on Instagram or 77,000 followers on Twitter by working at an after-school program.

He’s also a former member of a pop boy band called IM5 and lead vocalist for an alternative group called Fly Away Hero.

And you can check out lots of Dalton Rapattoni music on iTunes.

Fly Away Hero released a pair of EPs before he left to join IM5 and another in January 2015 after he returned to the band. Dalton also released an impressive single called “Stop” in 2014 under his own name.

On American Idol, Dalton impressed by judges by putting a singer-songwriter twist on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s classic “Phantom of the Opera.”

Jennifer Lopez called his performance “unique and beautiful and special” and Keith Urban praised his artistry.

Of course, Dalton sailed to Hollywood via a 3-0 vote.

In his IM5 bio, Dalton says his grandmother bought him a guitar at age 11, sparking his interest in music. But he got bored playing the guitar by himself, so he asked his parents to sign him up for a local rock school.

“I’ll never forget the feeling that I got when I was on stage for the first time. I knew it was for me,” he writes.

Oh, and at the time, Dalton said his goal was to have IM5 on every girl’s pillowcase, adding “my long-term goal is world domination.”

If Dalton does well on Idol, you can start the conspiracy theories RIGHT NOW.

Idol creator Simon Fuller also helped create IM5. I’m not sure how in the world having Dalton compete on Idol doesn’t constitute a conflict of interest.

You can also follow Dalton on Facebook.

Below are a couple of his originals.
