Miscellaneous news from the world of the Idols …

* In case you missed David Archuleta singing in Spanish Friday night on ABC, here’s a link to the YouTube video of him singing Contigo en la Distancia at the 2009 ALMA awards.

In a blog posted today, David writes that the show (taped Thursday) marked his first time performing on TV in Spanish and his first awards show performance, all of which translated into a bad case of nerves.

Nevertheless, it was a pretty amazing vocal and a reminder of why Idol’s judges were so high on young David in season seven.

David writes that he’s “definitely planning on doing more in Spanish, and I hope this will allow more opportunities.” Of course, he also won the award for best new artist.

* Check MySpace Tuesday and you’ll be able to watch the video for Blake Lewis’ new single, “Sad Song.”

The song is quite catchy, hopefully a taste of what fans can expect from his “Heartbreak on Vinyl” CD, due in stores in just two weeks (Oct. 6).

The video: Film noir meets the 1980s is how his manager describes it in a sneak-peek video set out to those who register for such info on Blake’s Web site.

Blake promises emails featuring snippets of the songs off his new album, so you might want to sign up if you’re a fan.

Bruce Gower holds his Emmy award for outstanding director in the variety, music or comedy category. (AP Photo)* Being the most-watched show on TV doesn’t necessarily translate into Emmy success. American Idol got another reminder of that Sunday night.

Idol won four Emmys — three for technical prowess, and one for Bruce Gowers for outstanding directing in the variety, music or comedy category.

But the big prize, outstanding reality TV competition, went to The Amazing Race. For the seventh straight year.

Idol, of course, was nominated for that award all seven years (it was created in 2003) and, at one point, was on a pace to set the record for most Emmy nominations without a win.

* Tickets went on sale Saturday for Daughtry’s Monday, Nov. 16, show at the Wachovia Arena in Wilkes-Barre, about a 2-hour, 15-minute drive from York.

The band is touring to support its “Leave This Town” album, which is still in the top 20 on the Billboard 200, nine weeks after its release.
Tickets range from $29.50 to $39.50. Here’s a link to more information.

The band will also play the Sovereign Center in Reading on Thursday, Nov. 5. Tickets for that show went on sale Aug. 22 and are available here.
