Brooke White and Jack Matranga have released their first new music as Jack and White in more than three years.

Brooke White, a Season 7 standout on American Idol, joined forced with Jack Matranga to release three excellent EPs as Jack and White between 2011 and 2012.

We hadn’t heard from them since … at least not until earlier this month when the duo released “Lost,” their first full-length album.

Besides being the name of one of the best songs on the album, “Lost” was a perfect name for the album, Brooke says on her Facebook page.

“After being lost for a while, it’s good to be back with these songs,” she writes.

“We’ve been chipping away at this nine-song record over the last 2.5+ years, but (it’s) hopefully worth the wait. It’s both scary and exciting.”

Fans are almost certain to think it’s worth the wait. Brooke and Jack sound as good as ever together. Another track you just have to check out is the love song “Walk for Two,” on which Jack sings lead vocals.

Brooke has been providing the stories behind the songs on her Facebook page. And she explained the long gap between music in a recent interview with YahooMusic.com, saying the 2012 birth of her daughter London and side projects pushed the duo to the back burner for a while.

One of those side projects is a charity album Brooke released earlier this year called “Never Grow Up.” Proceeds went to Operation Underground Railroad, an organization that attempts to free children from sexual slavery.

The album includes eight duets as Brooke collaborates with other artists, including Deana Carter and former Idol colleagues David Archuleta and Carly Smithson. And, yep, one of those collaborations is with Jack Matranga, a song called “Surrender” that’s also included on the new album.

As for the new Jack and White album, if you head here you can listen to audio of all the songs. I’ve embedded my two favorites below.
