Add Jacquie Lee to the long list of former The Voice contestants who have learned a post-show record deal doesn’t equal musical utopia.

After releasing a post-show debut EP with Atlantic Records, the Season 5 runner-up is now preparing her first major independent release.

Now 20, Jacquie released the single “Am I the Only One” last month. The accompanying music video dropped Monday.

And Jacquie and director Chris Le did a marvelous — and quite creative — job of capturing the feelings of anxiety and confusion at the heart of the song.

Jacquie previously said “Am I the Only One” is about the anxiety she felt as she went through that change and as she moved to Los Angeles to continue to pursue a career in music while most of her friends headed off to attend college.

“The process of writing this song was really therapeutic because almost immediately after I felt at peace,” she told Glamore. “We all go through change no matter what phase we’re in and it never gets any easier. We just keep learning and growing as people.”

An EP is on the way, as well as two more videos as the young woman who was just 16 when she starred on The Voice shows off her musical growth since then.

Galore.com recently talked to Jacquie about her music direction and her decision to take control of her music.

“The biggest issue was that I wanted to have my own voice and write my own sh–,” Jacquie told the site.

“I didn’t know exactly what my sound was at the time, but I knew I was a writer/ artist and not just a pop vocalist off a reality TV show that people could use as a vehicle to make fast money.”

Here’s the new video.
