So it’s not all that surprising that two hours after the show ended, he was leading all Voice contestants on iTunes.
What might be surprising though, is that his version of “Desperado” had already soared to number one on the iTunes overall singles chart and the country singles chart.
But he wasn’t the only Voice semifinalist with reason to celebrate.
Ricky Duran’s version of “Let It Be” was at number three on the singles chart, just behind Jake. And Rose Short had clearly impressed with her unexpected cover of a rock song, landing at number 12 as of midnight.
As voting ended, all three managed to squeeze into the Top 10 on the overall singles chart.
That meant Katie Kadan, once the heavy favorite to win the show, dropped all the way to number four in the iTunes rankings after leading the way during the first two weeks of the finals.
The chart results also delivered a blow to Will Breman’s dark horse bid for a spot in the finals. His cover of “Locked Out of Heaven” was lagging 30 spots behind his closest Voice competitor on iTunes.
Here’s where all the songs stood as of 6 a.m..
