Say what you will about The Four, the show got something right Thursday night.
Sharaya J was named the winner.
And after watching her tear up the show’s stage with her charisma and her raps for the past two months, there would have been no other satisfactory end to the show’s second season.
Whoa!
What did you say? I got that wrong.
James Graham was really named the winner of The Four.
The judges hand-picked the winner? And those judges selected James over Sharaya?
Guess I was wrong. This dreadful parody of a singing show got nothing, absolutely nothing, right. Which doesn’t surprise me in the least.
Look, James Graham is a talented singer. He showed how talented with his finale night performances of “Fix You” and Adele’s “Hello.”
But he was not consistently great in Season 2.
Sharaya? She was consistently great. Not to mention unique.
The judges, supposedly, were taking each performer’s entire The Four journey into consideration when selecting the winner.
So said DJ “I’m Not Confused Because My Walls Glitter with Platinum” Khaled.
Oops, maybe he was confused. About the judging criteria at least.
Here’s what it came down to. This show is all about finding fresh young talent.
Sharaya J is a 34-year-old female rapper.
James Graham is a 21-year-old former boy band member with heart-throb potential and twice as many Instagram followers as Sharaya.
For the record, Whitney Reign and Leah Renae were the other two finalists.
James beat Leah in the preliminary round Thursday; Sharaya defeated Whitney.
Here are photos from what will hopefully be the last-ever episode of The Four.
