It’ll be held on the South Lawn of the White House. It will include a 90-minute concert sponsored by the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation. And it’ll be televised on the Hallmark Channel.
Performing at that concert will be former American Idol contestants Jax and Jonny Brenns.
Now, in case you weren’t aware, our current president isn’t a smash hit among the artistic community. So Jax has heard some criticism about her decision to perform a the event.
In fact, there are some pretty scathing comments on her Instagram account.
And she’s responded on Twitter.
“I would have jumped at the chance to perform for any president,” she wrote on Twitter. “It’s an honor & once in a lifetime opportunity to perform at the White House for a military event, given that my brother is a Marine & father a 9/11 first responder.
“Telling me to burn in hell seems counterproductive.”
In a separate tweet including photos of her with her brother, Jax added: “It’s an honor to be able to celebrate our soldiers on the 4th of July for an awesome military event.”
And the third-place finisher from Idol Season 14 told TMZ that “it’s kind of an unfortunate thing when people can’t separate politics from patriotism.”
The Trumps plan to attend the South Lawn event, which will also feature a picnic for military families.
Also performing will be Sara Evans, pianist Lola Astanova, and the U.S. Marine, Navy and Air Force Bands.
