Jax, from American Idol Season 14, will release her debut EP in January.

Jax, the New Jersey gal who should have won American Idol Season 14, has announced the release of her debut EP.

“Funny,” featuring six tracks,” will be released Jan. 27 and is available for pre-order from iTunes.

One of the songs, “Stars,” is already available, either for purchase individually or as an instant download for those who pre-order the EP. You can check it out below.

Jax co-wrote the song with Nash Overstreet and Sidnie Tipton after undergoing treatment for thyroid cancer, a condition discovered after her run on American Idol.

In fact, she celebrated her successful treatment by running in the New York City marathon and surprise released “Stars” at the same time.

“What better way to kick thyroid cancer’s ass than run 26.2 miles during the greatest marathon in the world?” she asked on her Facebook page.

You can also head to that page to watch Jax perform “Sleep Like a Baby” from the new EP as part of a performance/interview with Billboard.

During that interview, Jax called the EP “confused pop” because of the wide range of music it includes.

“There’s a mixture of like Ed Sheeran-ish meets Chainsmokers meets — there’s some dancier stuff and some more power-ballady stuff. ‘Stars’ is probably the sweetest song on the EP. It’s more of a second-wind type thing. It was therapeutic for me to write that (after her health challenge).”

Jax previously released the superb “La La Land” about her American Idol experience.

She finished third on the show behind Nick Fradiani and Clark Beckham.

You can also follow Jax on Twitter and through her official website.
