First, Jax tackled the female body image promoted by Victoria’s Secret in song.

That worked out pretty well.

Her song “Victoria’s Secret” has been streamed more than 100 million times on Spotify.

Now Jax has flipped the Cinderella story on its head in her latest single, “Cinderella Snapped.”
The song apparently has its roots in a real-life incident. As a young girl, Jax went to a Princess Ball at school and got left without a Prince.

When she got home, her grandmother edited her Cinderella book into a story where Cinderella didn’t need a prince to rule the world.

Her grandmother retitled the book “The Cindependent Woman.”

Now, Jax has dedicated her new song to her grandmother. And the girl in “Cinderella Snapped” sure isn’t waiting for a prince to show up with a glass slipper.

Oh, and the song’s already been streamed more than 2 million times on Spotify.

For those who don’t remember, Jax finished third on Season 14 of American Idol. I wrote back then and still believe she should have won.

For those who do remember, her ability to turn her sharp wit into a catchy pop song shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Her first post-Idol release, you’ll recall, was the incredibly catchy “La La Land,” a not exactly flattering take on reality TV singing shows.

Jax, now 26, celebrated the new released with a wonderful social media post.

It opens with a clip of 14-year-old Jax singing on Times Square, trying to get noticed, then switches to a clip of her sitting on her dad’s shoulder in Times Square with a Billboard promoting “Cinderella Snapped” streaming in the background.
