American Idol fans now have a pair of reasons to check out Sunday’s Memorial Day Concert from Washington, D.C.
Jessica Sanchez has been added to the list of performers.
She joins new American Idol Candice Glover, who will open the event with the national anthem.
Jessica will be on hand to sing “God Bless America,” marking the second straight year she’ll perform at the event.
The concert, held on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol, will be aired on PBS from 8 to 9:30 p.m.
Jessica performed the national anthem at last year’s event because Idol winner Phillip Phillips was recovering from surgery.
But Jessica is a fitting choice to take part.
The press release announcing her performance says her father, Gilbert, served several tours of duty in Iraq and Kuwait with the U.S. Navy and her grandfather is a Navy veteran.
Also performing at the event will be Chris Mann, a season two finalist on The Voice.
