When Jordan Smith served as a mentor on Season 14 of The Voice, he said fans would be in for some surprises when his new music dropped.

He delivered one of those surprises Friday, the soulful and funky “Feel Good.”

Simply put, it’s more soulful and funky than any of the originals Jordan previously released.

“’Feel Good’ has that fun, infectious quality that gets in your bones and owns up to its name,” Jordan told Billboard, where the song premiered. “Even I couldn’t keep from laughing in the middle of it.”

The song follows “Only Love” as the second released from Jordan’s upcoming album, also called “Only Love.”

The 12-track album will be out Aug. 10 and pre-orders are now underway on iTunes.

An exclusive album with two bonus tracks will be available through Target. Pre-orders for that version are underway too.

Jordan has said “Only Love” is special to him because it’s a more personal album. He co-wrote six of the 12 songs after having only one co-write on his debut album.

That debut, “Something Beautiful,” was one of the top-selling post-Voice albums ever. Jordan has also released a Christmas album since winning Season 9.

Here’s “Feel Good.”
