After American Idol

Joshua Ledet to release first single next month

Joshua LedetRemember Joshua Ledet from Season 11 of American Idol?

He was probably that season’s best pure vocalist, but wound up finishing third behind Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips.

And, in terms of releasing music, he hasn’t been heard from since.

That’s about to change.

Earlier this summer, Joshua tweeted the he had joined Warner Brothers Records. Now he’s preparing to release his first single, “Love Can Do.”

It’ll be out in the U.S. on Sept. 18, according to Joshua’s Twitter account. The song has already been released in Indonesia. And the video is already available for viewing here.

Joshua, who grew up singing in church, sounds sensational, of course. I mean, keep watching to the three-minute mark or so. Wow. And the gospel influences in his background are clearly evident in the new song.

Joshua was 19 when he auditioned for Idol. Here’s what he has to say about the new song.

“It’s a really amazing tune. It has such a strong message about love and how people search to find the answer to things, but they never can get there without love being the foundation.

“I think if people realize that, they get a whole lot further in life and solve a lot more problems. This song basically just says that,” he adds.

The song should soon be available for pre-order on iTunes. In the meantime, here’s Joshua performing the song live.
