* Juliet Simms, Season 2’s runner-up, delivered a three-track EP called “Descent” on Friday. Lead track “All American” got the music video treatment, but the other two songs — “Bad Things” and “You’re Gonna Lose the Best Thing in Your Life” — are every bit as impressive. It’s Juliet’s first project with “Sumerian Records.” Says Juliet: “This EP was an opportunity for me to bridge the gap between who I used to be and what I have become. Sonically, it skews towards a brighter sound than the one I am moving towards, but I think it’s a great mix of 80’s influence with modern pop rock production.”

* Ryan Whyte Maloney from Season 6 recently released “I Am the One,” a song he says that started off as a suicide letter he wrote in 2017. “I wrote this song in one of the darkest times of my life and it truly scared the hell out of me,” he writes on Instagram. “Anxiety and depression is something I have lived with my entire life … It’s never too late to start over again. It’s hard but every happy ending starts with a 1st step so take yours today and make HISTORY remember you!” Follow the link for his full message about the song and his experience.

* Manny Cabo from Season 9 recently released “The Last One.” The message of the song, he says in a video message to fans: “Life is very short. So forget the nonsense. Forget the hate. Forget the jealousy. Forget the regret. Live every day as if it’s your last.” It’s the second single of 2020 for Manny, who’s also been busy capturing images of musicians in Nashville recently.
