Ju’Not comments on his ouster; others return to MySpace

Ju'not Joyner posts blog about his Idol ousterSo, you say your favorite Idol contestant didn’t make the finals?

Join the crowd. I was rooting for Kristen McNamara from day one.

The good news is that the ousted Idol contestants are slowly but surely resurfacing on MySpace.

I’m assuming Idol requires semifinalists to scrape their MySpace pages once they’ve advanced that far.

I mean, one day I was happily checking out the sites, trying to get a read on who these contestants are and what they had done prior to Idol. Then, presto, all the info, pictures and music normally featured on their MySpace pages disappeared.

Well, I guess the MySpace ban ends once you’re officially no longer a contestant, because about a dozen of the pages have already been revived.

So far, only one contestant — Ju’Not Joyner — is commenting on his Idol experience. He’s clearly frustrated that he didn’t at least get asked to compete in the wild card round, and justifiably so.

In a blog posted this weekend, he comments about the two guys who advanced from his round, Scott and Jorge. And about Tatiana (“While I will admit that I was initially annoyed with her … once I began to understand her, I actually found her rather endearing”).

He refuses to blame his dismissal on any of the other contestants, instead concluding that “I went into this situation hoping it was a talent show and left realizing it was a television show.”

Here’s a link to the full blog. Interesting stuff.

Other revived MySpace pages worth checking out …

Kristen McNamara, another contestant who deserved a better fate on Idol, has posted an excellent song named “Sacred” that I hadn’t heard before as well as snippets of five others. “Sacred” already has more than 1,300 plays, and it’s only been up a couple of days. Now, if someone could just explain to Kristen that orange type is tough to read on a black background backed with a photo …

Mishavonna Henson asks viewers for votesMishavonna Henson has revived the five tracks from a country music EP she released in 2007. You can listen to full length versions of all five. Make sure to check out “Her Next Plan.” I graded Mishavonna as doing better than Allison Iraheta in week two of the semis, but she got passed over, too.

Brent Keith has full versions of four songs on his page, including “Looking for a Road,” the song he recorded for a CMT documentary on Dale Earnhardt Sr. I listen to these songs and get mad about Idol’s semifinal format all over again.

Tatiana Del Torro, also known as Tatiana Nicole, is back with six songs on her page. So far, she’s resisted the urge to blog about her Idol experience. Sooner or later, she will. I can’t wait to see what she has to say.
