Kanard Thomas won the final spot in the Comeback Stage semifinals on The Voice.

During Monday’s battle round episode of The Voice, David Owens lost his battle round match with Rebecca Howell, but was selected for the Comeback Stage.

He was pitted against Knard, 28, of Jacksonville, Fla., who scored a questionable round one Comeback Stage win over J.T. Rodriguez.

Comeback Stage coach Bebe Rexha said she pitted David and Kanard against one another because of their soulful sounds.

David, 24, of Indianapolis, sang “OK, It’s Alright with Me” by Eric Hutchinson.

As he has every time he’s performed on The Voice, he showed off his vocal power and delivered a passionate performance.

Kanard counted with “Burn” by Usher, and turned in a much better performance this time around.

In addition to showing off a really nice falsetto, he navigated a difficult song skillfully and delivered a nice glory note at the end.

That was enough to convince Bebe that he deserved a spot in the semifinals, making Kanard the only no-chair turn singer to advance that far.

The semifinals will also include Ciera Dumas and Savannah Brister, both of whom advanced to the battle round on The Voice before landing on the Comeback Stage.

Eventually, Bebe will select one singer to compete for a spot back on The Voice live shows.
