Karli Webster from The Voice Season 13 released the lead single from an upcoming EP on Friday.

Following a successful Kickstarter campaign, former Voice standout Karli Webster is preparing to release her debut EP.

And we got the first sample of music from the project Friday, when Karli dropped the impressive single “When It’s Over.”

On the song, which Karli wrote, she sings with determination about not letting anxiety control her life.

“I wrote this song in the middle of an anxiety attack,” Karli says.

“I’ve dealt with anxiety and panic disorder for most of my life. And while family and friends might not always understand it, I’ve accepted my anxiety, addressing those who don’t understand it’s impact and choosing to dance through life even through the pain that comes with having anxiety.”

Though it’s complete, a release date hasn’t been announced for the five-song EP.

The project — called “Bittersweet” — was produced by Dennis Herring, who has worked with Modest Mouse, Counting Crows and Elvis Costello.

Karli, now 22, was 20 when she auditioned for Season 13 of The Voice and landed a spot on Team Miley Cyrus.

She advanced all the way to the Top 24 and she and Addison Agen teamed up for a re-imagined version of “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” that became the show’s most successful battle round hit on iTunes.

You can keep up with Karli through her Instagram and Facebook pages and website. On Twitter, she’s simply @karliwebster.
