Katrina Parker of The Voice Season 2 is preparing to release a new album

Former Voice contestant Katrina Parker is gearing up for the release of her sophomore album.

And over the past three weeks, she’s released the title track, “Stars,” and a delightfully different cover of Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire.”

The latter is the only non-original to be featured on the album “Stars,” due out Sept. 6.

“It’s Westworld meets Deadwood meets The Andrews Sisters,” Katrina says on Instagram of “Ring of Fire.”

“It’s a little creepy, a little sexy, and a helluva lot of fun.”

“Stars” is completely different in tone, a ballad inspired by a night of star-gazing — and witnessing the Perseids meteor shower — at her parents’ North Carolina home after her father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

“That one’s for my dad,” she writes on her website. “While I sat there freezing my butt off, I felt this sense of peace settle over me, this hope for the future and this deep belief that we’d get through this. It was like someone was whispering in my ear ‘You’re not alone. They’re not alone. It’s going to be okay.’

And Katrina will drop a third song from the album, “Follow Me,” on Aug. 6. It’s available for pre-order on iTunes.

In case you’ve forgotten, Katrina was a Top 8 finisher on Season 2 of The Voice, but it’s been a while since she’s released music — something she jokes about on Facebook.

“Every 12 months, Phil the groundhog emerges from his burrow in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, after a long winter’s sleep. And every 4 years I emerge from my burrow in sunny California to release music after a long period of writing and dreaming and working things out.”

Here are “Stars” and “Ring of Fire.”
