The next former Idol contestant to appear on a season eight results show will be none other than the adorable Kellie Pickler.
Kellie posted a blog on her MySpace page today announcing that she’ll sing her new single, “Best Days of Your Life,” next Wednesday’s episode. The song was co-written by country star Taylor Swift, Kellie’s current tour mate.
“Going back to American Idol is like going to a family reunion,” Kellie writes. “Well, it’s more fun than going to my family reunions.”
Kellie follows Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Ruben Studdard and David Cook to the Idol stage for a results show performance, which means she’ll be the first non-winner of Idol to appear since the finals started.
Of course, she and Chris Daughtry were the real winners of Idol season five. They’ve gone on to musical stardom. Season five finalists Kat McPhee and Taylor Hicks have … well, they’ve yet to be so fortunate.
Between recording videos, touring and making fashion show appearances in New York, Kellie’s been keeping herself quite busy.
On Monday, Kellie participated in “Dressed to the Kilt,” a Scottish evening of fashion and fun, in New York. That’s a photo from the event above.
In a blog post from earlier this week — in which she also talks about her dog MooMoo and her first karate lessons — Kellie says she’s “still over the moon” about meeting Sean Connery at the event.
And guess what? Kellie then discovered she’s part Scottish.
“I had no idea. I’ve always wanted to go to Scotland … it is now one of my many missions,” she writes.
Anyway, the “Dressed for the Kilt” event was for a good cause. Proceeds benefit the Paralyzed Veterans of America, the Wounded Warriors organization and the Erskine Hospital in Scotland.
Kellie will also be on TV Sunday night. She’s one of the presenters at the Academy of Country Music awards show (8 p.m. on CBS).
Carrie Underwood is up for four awards that night, including Entertainer of the Year.
You can follow the show on Idol Chatter. I’ll be blogging live and posting as many photos as I can find as soon as I can find them.
