Kellie Pickler, Taylor Swift coming to the area

Taylor SwiftAt long last, the blank beside that June 11 concert date on the TaylorSwift Web site has been filled.

Taylor and good friend Kellie Pickler will be playing the MerriweatherPost Pavilion in Columbia, Md., on that date, according to both of their Web sites.

Tickets go on sale March 14, according to Taylor’s Web site.

And if you want tickets, you’d best buy them quickly.

Ryan Seacrest happened to interview Taylor on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards. He happened to mention that tickets had just gone on sale for one of her 2009 tour dates.

And he happened to mention that the tickets sold out in two minutes.

In fact, nine of the shows on her 2009 tour are already listed as sold out. And Columbia (about an hour, 15 minutes from York) is the closest Taylor and Kellie are coming. The tour also includes dates in Philly (Aug. 1), University Park (Aug. 29) and Pittsburgh (Oct. 3); Kellie’s tour schedule doesn’t include the Philly concert.

No word yet on ticket prices for the Columbia, Md. concert. As of Thursday morning, the show wasn’t listed on the Merriweather site or on Ticketmaster. Merriweather hopes to have more info on tickets by early next week, I’m told.

Kellie PicklerI’ve always found myself rooting for Kellie, a season five contestant on Idol. But she’s hit something of a sophomore slump with her self-titled second album.

She’s hoping for a boost from her new single, “Best Days of Our Lives,” which Taylor helped write. Kellie just finished shooting the video for the song, according to a blog she posted earlier this week.

The real draw on this tour, of course, is 19-year-old Taylor, who has proven to be quite the cross-over artist.

Her second album, “Fearless,” rests atop the Billboard Hot 200 chart, quite a feat for a country gal. Her debut album has been on the Billboard Hot 200 for 122 weeks. And her single “Love Story” is number eight on the Billboard Hot 100.

I am very sick of of these individuals not even giving Taylors stuff a chance before just saying how horrible it is. She really is a great artist in both the Country and Pop genre if you ask me.
