I kid you not. There is such a title.

Though even Kellie didn’t seem sure of the news at first.

In a blog posted this morning, Kellie says she heard she won, then googled it “to make sure I wasn’t being punk’d! ha ha!!”

The award is bestowed by PETA via on-line voting. In a Web story announcing the results, the organization says Kellie stopped eating meat for health reasons, then became convinced she’d made the correct decision after checking out PETA’s Web site.

This year’s male winner is Milo Ventimiglia (he’s Peter Petrelli on “Heroes,” not a former Idol contestant).

And apparently, this award has been doled out for nearly a decade. Past winners include Leona Lewis, Prince, Tobey Maquire and … drum roll, please … two-time winner Carrie Underwood.

Though Carrie grew up on a farm in Oklahoma, PETA says she decided she’d rather sing to cows than eat them. Personally, I prefer when she sings to miniature horses, like in that adorable Vitamin Water commercial that aired during this year’s Idol episodes, providing at least a little relief from those long breaks between performances.

But back to Kellie. She’s obviously thrilled to be named sexiest vegetarian.

“How cool is that?” she writes in her blog. “That was totally unexpected!! I was jumping up and down when I heard the news!”

Kellie and Carrie are up for more serious awards tonight. The CMT video awards will be aired live at 8 p.m. on CMT, of course.
