Idols on the Music Chart

Kelly’s ‘Dark Side’ surfacing on the Billboard charts

Kelly Clarkson’s new single was among the big movers on the Billboard charts this week.

“Dark Side” debuted on the Hot 100 at 93 last week. This week, it’s up to 79.

It also jumped from number 30 to 20 on the dance club chart. Kelly scored her first dance chart number one earlier this year with “Stronger.”

That song, by the way, remains atop the adult contemporary chart for the fifth straight week.

It’s also still number 11 among adult pop songs and number 14 among radio songs on Billboard.

Not everything’s falling Kelly’s way these days, though.

She sent out the photo at left, of her in a wheelchair holding crutches, after spraining her foot and suffering a hairline fracture.

The Daily Mail reports that the injury occurred over the weekend, while she was performing at Milwaukee Summerfest.

But “the show must go on,” she wrote, and she was in attendance at the Fort Worth July 4 celebration one day after sending out the pic.

Other chart highlights …

* Katharine McPhee’s “Touch Me” single from the “Smash” soundtrack moved up one more spot — to number four — on the dance/club play chart. The only songs between it and the top spot — “I Don’t Like You” by Eva Simons, “How We Do (Party) by Rita Ora and “Chasing the Son” by The Wanted.

* Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away” remains the top Idol album on the Billboard 200, checking in at number 24 after nine weeks on the chart. It moved up a spot to number four among country albums. “Blown Away” previously topped both charts.

* If Adam Lambert is going to see a boost in sales from his performance with Queen, it hasn’t happened yet. “Trespassing” dropped from 109 to 137 on the Billboard 200. It’s been on the chart for seven weeks.
