A contestant has never earned three straight instant saves on The Voice.
Korin, 21, did it for the second time Tuesday night, advancing to the Top 10 after a save-me performance of “She Will Be Loved” that might have been her best vocal since the knockout round.
That meant the end of The Voice road for Evan McKeel, the second Team Pharrell member to bow out of the competition in as many weeks. He sang “Let’s Stay Together” for his save performance.
Korin became the fourth contestant on The Voice to earn back-to-back saves. India Carney did it in Season 8, Kat Perkins did it in Season 7 and Ryan Sill did it in Season 6.
But a third wouldn’t be out of the question because The Voice has gone to a single elimination format for the first three weeks of the finals. That means just two singers are competing for the instant save compared to three in past seasons.
Tuesday’s results show was also a perfect example of why iTunes rankings don’t mean everything on The Voice.
Shelby Brown of Team Adam landed 53 spots below Evan on iTunes, yet was voted to safety. Braiden Sunshine had the second least popular song of the week on iTunes, but he was voted to safety as well.
Now, here are photos from Tuesday’s results show. (And I’ll add a group photo of Team Gwen as soon as NBC provides one.)
