Allison Iraheta performs during the American Idol results show Thursday night. (FOX Photo)If you want to have your music heard, there aren’t too many better stages than American Idol.

That point was proven again this week.

Kris Allen shows up on the Idol stage to sing “Let It Be,” with proceeds from the download going to benefit Haiti.

Presto. His debut album zips from number 154 to number 82 on the Billboard 200. His “Live Like You’re Dying Single” hits a new peak of 18 on the Hot 100.

As for “Let It Be,” it debuts at 63 on the Hot 100 and is the 29th most downloaded digital single in the land.

Also last Thursday, Allison Iraheta returned to Idol to perform “Scars,” which is absolutely the best track off her pretty impressive debut album.

Presto. Her album’s number 186 on the Billboard 200.

Unimpressed?

Keep this in mind. As impressed as I am by “Just Like You,” the album lasted just five weeks on the chart after its early December release.

It debuted at 35, then plummeted to 99, 148, 165, 185 and, then, just like that, it was gone from the Billboard 200.

Hopefully the Idol appearance will mark a rejuvenation in interest in Allison. She deserves it.

Of course, tonight, we get to hear from Danny Gokey, third-place finisher from Idol season eight.

He’ll be performing “My Best Days Are Ahead of Me,” the lead single off his new album, “My Best Days,” which hit stores Tuesday.

I’ve been listening to it ever since. Check back Sunday for a review of the album.

And check back tomorrow for a complete rundown of Idols on the music charts.
