Laci Kaye Booth,Top 5 on Season 17 of American Idol, recently dropped her second post-show album.

In the whirl of activity leading up to the American Idol Season 22 finale, I missed the fact that a Season 17 standout released a new album.

That would be Laci Kaye Booth, Top 5 in the season that saw Laine Hardy and Alejandro Aranda square off for the Idol title.

Post-show, Laci signed with the Big Machine Label Group and released a self-titled album in 2021.

But by 2022, she’d been dropped by the label, an experience that, according to her online bio, left her feeling completely lost and wondering “am I good enough?”

She answered that question May 17, releasing a 15-track album called “The Loneliest Girl in the World” on Geffen Records.

Two tracks — “Cigarettes” and “Damn Good in a Dive Bar” — have been streamed more than 1.4 million times on Spotify.

Laci released three more songs, “True Love,” “Sometimes” and the title track in the lead-up to the album’s release.

But this is an album full of gems.

Be sure to check out “Since 1995,” “Bill” and “Can’t Cowboy,” special songs made more special by Laci’s smoky, plaintive vocals.

Laci began working on the new music with producer Ben West in the summer of 2022, writing on social media that the experience “has completely set my soul on fire.

“After honestly being burnt out for a while, I feel 11 years old again, hearing Stevie (Nicks) for the first time.

“I can’t wait to share this with y’all. It’s weird. It’s dreamy. It’s country. It’s haunting. But it’s completely me, and that’s all I’ve ever wanted to be.”
