Maddie Zahm of American Idol Season 17 has released her debut single.

For instance, as of April 8, she reported that she’d lost 50 pounds.

She’s also moved to Los Angeles.

And she just released “Beautifully Human,” a touching new song and music video.

If you don’t recall, Maddie, from Boise, Idaho, closed out the third audition episode of ABC’s first season of American Idol.

Nineteen at the time of her audition, she says weight gain robbed her of the confidence needed to perform in public.

But teaching music to special education students, including her best friend Marcus, helped her regain that confidence.

And her ability took her all the way to the final judgment episode of American Idol Season 16.

Her new song is, quite appropriately, about perseverance and self-acceptance in the face of adversity. And Marcus is back for a guest appearance in the music video.
