Mandisa sees a Grammy jump on the Billboard charts

0

I’ve been so busy researching the new batch of American Idol contestants lately, I haven’t had a chance to update readers on the Billboard Music charts.

Of course, there hasn’t been a whole lot to update.

MandisaThis week, Mandisa saw a Grammy jump, with her “Overcomer” album climbing from 17 to 13 on the Christian albums chart, where it had been falling since hitting number one.

“Overcomer” was named best contemporary Christian album at the Jan. 26 awards ceremony (go here for a Grammy photo gallery).

The single by the same name is still number two on the Christian singles chart, 36 weeks after its release.

In other chart news:

* Daughtry’s first single — “Waiting for a Superman” — off its new album appears to have peaked. It reached 66 on the Hot 100, but has been dropping since. It’s now at number 84, the highest Idol single on that chart.

* Over on the country airplay chart, former Voice winner Danielle Bradbery with “Heart of Dixie” and former Idol Scotty McCreery with “See You Tonight” each hit a new peak, at number 13 and 14, respectively.

The rundown:
