Ada Vox is one of the singers viewers will meet on the American Idol audition episode that airs Sunday.

That episode will be the fifth and final audition episode of Idol Season 16, with judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan deciding who advances to Hollywood.

Here’s more about Ada Vox.

* Ada Vox is the drag queen persona of Adam Sanders, a 24-year-old University of Texas at San Antonio grad.

* As Adam Sanders, he competed on Season Season 12 of American Idol. In fact, he brought three of that season’s four judges to their feet with a cover of Etta James’ “I’d Rather Go Blind.” Still, he failed to make the finals.

* Five years later, Adam says he feels much more prepared for American Idol. Here’s what he told SACurrent.com: “I was an OK singer then – I was. But I’m a hundred times better now than I ever was then. I’m vocally better, I’m a better performer, I’m a better entertainer, I’m more prepared as an adult now to take on the challenges that come with a competition like this.”

* Adam has told his hometown media that the idea of performing in drag followed his participation in a San Antonio Gay Pride event shortly after his run on Idol. “The drag queens sparked my interest,” he told MySanAntonio.com. “None of them were actually singing, they were all lip-synching.”

* Hence, came Ada Vox. Adam told MySanAntonio.com the transformation takes about two hours. As for Ada’s busty figure: “I’m wearing hand towels in my bra.”

* Head to Adam’s YouTube channel and you can watch videos of him singing both as himself and Ada Vox.

* As Ada, he’s been promoting his upcoming appearance on Idol on an almost daily basis. Earlier this week, he wrote: “A real drag queen on @AmericanIdol ?! Whaaaaaa?! Let’s make history, y’all!”

* Adam told MySanAntonio.com that the fact that people are more accepting now makes it “the perfect time for someone like me to come out of the woodwork and onto the show.”
