Alyssa Raghu will be a contestant on the new season of American Idol.

Idol premieres March 11 with Katy Perry, Lionel Ritchie and Luke Bryan as the judges who determine which singers make it to Hollywood and which don’t.

Here’s more about Alyssa Raghu.

On Facebook, she describes herself as “just a 15-year-old girl chasing her dreams, one song at a time.”

On Instagram, she informs us: “It’s pronounced Raa-G-OO, like the sauce!” That’s shortened from her full last name of Raghunandan.

On YouTube, she takes on songs by a wide range of artists, from the country-pop of Brett Young to the rock of Aerosmith to Drake’s “Home On, We’re Going Home.”

I’ve embedded her cover of Ne-Yo’s “So Sick” below. The young lady certainly has a rich tone to her voice. And that versatility could serve her well should Idol bring back it’s theme nights.

Alyssa is from the Orlando, Fla., area, and based on ABC press information, it appears her audition will be aired on the March 11 season premiere.

Alyssa’s most annoying trait, according to her little sister: “She sings all the time.” Doesn’t look like that’s likely to change.
