Alyssa Wray from American Idol Season 19

Alyssa Wray is among the artists we’ll likely see on American Idol Sunday night.

Here’s more about Alyssa.

* She’s 18, from Perryville, Kentucky, and a 2020 graduate of Boyle High School.

* She’s now a freshman musical theater major at Northern Kentucky University.

* Alyssa told The Advocate-Messenger that when she was 9 or 10, she’d watch Idol with her mom, then sing and dance to the songs she’d heard the next day, putting on her own little performance.

* This year actually marks her second attempt at Idol, Alyssa told YourSportsEdge.com. She tried out when she was a sophomore in high school, but failed to make it past the first round.

* She played basketball and was involved in musical theater in high school. She told the site her favorite role was playing Elsa in “Frozen.”

* She’s also building a pretty substantial following on TikTok, to the tune of nearly 67,000 followers.

* In the interview with YourSportsEdge, Alyssa calls her mom her “rock” and says she gets nervous before every prformance. “People would be surprised to know how shy I really am,” she said.

* She also said she’ll be nervous to watch her own audition. “I went in the room (to audition) and then basically blacked out. It will be interesting for me to hear the judges’ feedback because I don’t remember half of it.”
