Caleb Hutchinson will be a contestant on the new season of American Idol.

Caleb Lee Hutchinson is among contestants who have announced on social media that they auditioned for ABC’s new version of American Idol.

Idol premieres March 11 with Katy Perry, Lionel Ritchie and Luke Bryan as the judges who determine which singers make it to Hollywood and which don’t.

Here’s more about Caleb Lee Hutchinson.

Caleb Lee, 16 at the time, turned in a solid performance of “The Dance” in the Season 9 blind auditions for The Voice, but failed to turn a chair.

At the time, he said he’d started singing at age 9, playing guitar when he was 12 and writing songs when he was 13.

Since then, he’s released a five-track 2016 EP called “Country Music;” you can check out the fine title track below.

And just last year, he was named winner of the Georgia Country Teen Showcase.

In an interview following that victory, Caleb said he grew up listening to classic country while riding around with his dad in his truck and was especially drawn to the music of Hank Williams Jr. and Merle Haggard.

“Early on I gravitated towards classic country music as opposed to more modern country,” he said. “I listen to both modern and classic country but I find that most of my songs are more fitted to the classic sound.”

If you would like to win I would pick as my next song “I cross my heart” by George Strait.
I think you could pull it off and Katy Perry will probably want to do more than just have a beer with you.
