Carly Rose Sonenclar, The X Factor

Meet Carly Rose Sonenclar of The X Factor

0

Wow, didn’t young Carly Rose Sonenclar seem awfully composed for a 13-year-old when she appeared on The X Factor Thursday night?

Not to mention talented, of course. She capped the show’s second audition episode, and her version of “Feeling Good” might have been the best we’ve heard from an X Factor contestant so far this season.

Well, she might be just 13, but Carly is a seasoned entertainer, according to her website and Facebook page.

She’s appeared in two movies — Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 and The Nanny Diaries. She’s appeared in plays on and off Broadway.

Those performances started at age 7 in “Les Miserables” as Young Cosette and included a starring role as the daughter of the lead character in “Wonderland: A New Alice,” which played on Broadway for a month in 2011.

In fact, Carly is featured on three tracks of the “Wonderland” soundtrack, which you can check out on iTunes.

And performing in front of the X Factor audience wasn’t likely to intimidate someone who’s performed the national anthem at the U.S. Open and in front of Major League and NBA crowds.

Carly has also posted several videos demonstrating her vocal ability on her YouTube channel, including a February performance of “Feeling Good” at the Birdland Jazz Club in New York.

For those who missed it, I’ve embedded her X Factor audition below, along with a couple of other videos in which she’s accompanied by brother Russell.
