His audition: Cory Jackson, 24, of Jonesboro, Ark., performed “Galveston.” Corey showed off a nice, deep country tone on the Glen Campbell classic, but he was well into the song before country coach Blake Shelton turned his chair. Near the end of the song, Gwen Stefani and Kelly Clarkson turned as well. Gwen said she liked the theatrical flair in Cory’s voice; Kelly reminded him she’s dabbled in country music as well. But Corey joined Team Blake, who complimented his smooth, rich voice.

More about Cory:

* He told The Voice the small cattle farm his family owns “is pretty much all I’ve know my whole life.”

* That said, he has a bachelor’s degree, enrolled in a doctorate program for occupational therapy and works full time in manufacturing for a software development company, according to his Voice bio.

* When Cory was in 11th grade, his grandfather bought him a guitar. Cory started a band and began to perform in public. That band is still active and plays all kinds of country music, Cory told The voice.

* And he’s released original music, including a self-titled five-song EP in 2015, a single called “Row by Row” in 2017 and a single called “Feel Good Happenin'” in 2018. You can check out the music video for that latest single below.

* According to his website bio, Cory scored back-to-back wins in an independent artist competition held by Nashville radio station WSM-650AM in 2016 and 2017.

* Other awards include being named country artist of the year at the Arkansas County Music Association in 2018 and best vocalist in the 2019 Best of Northeast Arkansas awards, sponsored by the Jonesboro Radio Group. He was nominated for the Arkansas CMA country artist of the year award again in 2019.

* Cory told Voice Views his style is a mix of modern and more traditional country music and that he’s writing almost every day. He also does a lot of co-writing, he said, with people he’s met through the Nashville Songwriters Association (NSAI).

* Cory added: “I plan to release new music again soon! I do not have an official date yet. But when I do, I hope to have some even better songs for my fans that reflect who I am and the direction, musically, that I am headed, that they all can emotionally connect to.”

* Cory’s fiancee Sarah was unable to attend his blind audition. She was busy making plans for their wedding, held the Saturday after his audition was filmed earlier this year.
