Fran of The Voice Season 27

Fran of The Voice Season 27

Her audition: Fran Posla, 25, New York, N.Y., “What the World Needs Now” by Jackie DeShannon. Showing off a unique tone, Fran enticed an early chair turn from Adam Levine. Her soulful delivery eventually earned a chair turn from John Legend as well. Kelsea complimented her on a comfortable voice. John said she has a cool voice and makes interesting musical choices. Adam loved her bravado and the fact that she’s different. She joined Team Adam.

Here’s more about Fran.

* She’s now 26-year-old singer-songwriter Francesca Posla, a young woman blessed with an amazingly soulful voice.

* And though she hasn’t released original music, lots of people have already noticed, to the tune of more than 150,000 followers and 2 million likes on her TikTok.

* Her mashup of “Jolene” and “Hallelujah” there has been viewed nearly 9 million times. You can check out the YouTube version below. Also be sure to listen to her cover of “Mirror” by Maidson Ryann Ward.

* Fran plans to release her debut EP “Sanity” on Feb. 2, the day before The Voice premiere. She’s posted a snippet of lead single “Oh No” to Instagram and says another of her favorites on the EP is a song called “Holster.” Says Fran in a My Music podcast from December: The song “talks about how to love without your hand on the holster.”

* She recorded the EP in Surrey, England. “I wanted to have a body of work out that was my own,” she says in the podcast. “A big theme of it is fear. I was such a fear-driven person, especially around relationships. A lot of songs ended up being about that. They ended up being about not knowing how to follow my internal compass.”

* Her internal compass, Fran says, is telling her she should be a full-time musician. She’s working toward that goal, though at the time of interview she admitted to having other jobs as well.

* In a Camp Adulthood podcast, Fran says she was born in Costa Rica where her mom worked for the Italian embassy and spent part of her childhood in Italy, Alabama, Oregon, and Santa Barbara and Monterey, Calif.

* She wound up at New York’s New College, studying acting and the performing arts.

* Fran told My Music she began to take singing seriously in the 2020-2021 time frame. “I was using music as a very cathartic release,” she says. “I was at a very low point. Nothing seemed to be working out.”

* What wound up working out was performing live, even before she adopted her stage name. “I was like, ‘Okay, this is exactly where I’m supposed to be standing … I can do nothing else. This is exactly what I’m supposed to be doing. One of the few really clear things I’ve gotten in life so far.”

* Her musical influences include Lauryn Hill, D’Angelo and Allen Stone and Fran says she’s drawn to music that “feels super authentic.”
