Grace Humphries of The Voice Season 29

Grace Humphries is among the artists who auditioned for Season 29 of The Voice.

The Voice returns to NBC Monday, Feb. 23, with the coaching trio of Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend.

Here’s more about Grace:

* She’s a singer-songwriter with a country-leaning sound. She’s from San Diego, Calif., but considers herself a Texan since she lived in the Austin area for the last 10 years.

* She just 18, and now a freshman studying commercial music at Belmont University in Nashville.

* And in spite of that young age, she already has seven singles out dating back to 2024.

* Four of those songs — “I Couldn’t,” “For Years,” “Why’d You Give Up” and “Wanted to Know” — have more than 100,000 streams on Spotify. “I Couldn’t” leads the pack with nearly 350,000 streams. It’s a great song you can check out below.

* “For Years” is her latest release. A holiday song, it dropped in November. Grace describes it as a song about dealing with the holiday blues. In her case, they’re brought on by memories of her older brother Liam, who died of brain cancer at 10, when Grace was just 8.

* In a December interview with GuitarGirlMag.com, Grace says listening to the music of George Strait helped her deal with her brother’s loss. “Even though there is pop in my sound, the traditional country sound, and ‘80s / ‘90s country sound have always been a huge influence” in her songwriting, she told the site.

* The song-writing came after she learned to play the guitar at age 13. She’d started taking piano lessons at 5 and vocal lessons when she was 8.

* She was also heavily involved in choir in high school, taking all-state honors in 2020 with her rendition of “Think of Me” from Phantom of the Opera and in 2022 with an original song called “I Am Found.”

* According to her web bio, she also traveled to England in 2024 and spent a week recording at the famous Abbey Road Studios where The Beatles recorded most of their music.
