Eric Burton recalls how his grandmother made him join the choir in church.
“I’m like, ‘OK, grandma.”
What surprised him is, it wasn’t that bad.
“I remember it being very, very liberating,” he says in his golden ticket interview. “I was really taken by just performing.”
So years later, there he was, in Galveston, Texas, earning a golden ticket alongside new friend Dylan Loza.
Eric says he thinks the fact that he’s not afraid of coming off as crazy or looking silly on stage helps set him apart.
And he’s philosophical about his music.
“I feel like my performance is really true,” he says. And what comes from anyone’s heart will touch someone else’s.”
