Hunter Behrman is among the singers rumored to have earned golden tickets on American Idol Season 22.

American Idol returns Sunday, Feb. 18, with Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan once again serving as judges.

Here’s more about Hunter:

* Hunter is worship pastor at New Life Church in Liberty Hill, Texas, where he’s been serving for about six years.

* He’s also the youth pastor there along with his wife Lindsey, according to his website bio.

* Hunter grew up in the Canton, Ohio, area and began singing in church at a young age.

* In an interview with the Liberty Hill Independent, Hunter recalled that his family sang at a large church in Ohio that had multiple services each Sunday.

* “One Sunday, they had six services. I had to sing at all six. By the last one, I was so tired that they stuck me on a stool and I feel asleep on it with a microphone in my hand.” He was only 5 or 6 at the time.

* Hunter was being interviewed by the newspaper because he was one of 10 singers selected as finalists in the 2023 Hallelujah Auditions — a Christian music American Idol style competition.

* Hunter performed “Gratitude” by Brandon Lake at the finals in Burlington, Iowa, last May. You can check out a snippet of the performance below. Aaron Coulson was the Hallelujah Auditions Season 3 champ.

* On social media, Hunter credited the competition for helping him get more comfortable as a singer and performer. “Before entering in to this competition I had never even posted a video of myself singing,” he writes in one Instagram post.

* Hunter announced his American Idol audition on TikTok with an impressive cover of Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” He had posted a photo from his audition on Instagram in mid-December.

* And in another post, he celebrates being able to check off a childhood dream — auditioning for Idol. “I’m grateful to the producers who put me through and most of all to God for giving me the ability to do what I love to do,” he writes.
