Jeb Vonderbruegge after winning the Gulf Coast Idol competition; he auditioned for Season 18 of American Idol

American Idol returns for Season 18 on Sunday, Feb. 16.

Among the singers we’ll likely meet are Jeb Vonderbruegge.

Here’s more about Jeb.

* Last July, he won the Gulf Coast Idol competition in Biloxi, Mississippi, earning a $2,500 prize and a silver ticket to audition directly for Idol’s executive producers. And he won in spite of a minor wardrobe malfunction before his first song. You can check out coverage of the event here.

* Jeb sang two songs during the finals — “Chasing Cars” by Snow Patrol and “Use Somebody” by Kings of Leon, saying he wanted to choose songs that would show off his artistry but also be familiar to the audience.

* During an interview portion of the competition, Jeb said Kings of Leon is a major inspiration for his own music. In fact, he says he once followed them on tour for three days.

* Jeb announced his participation in Season 18 earlier this week saying “it wasn’t an easy decision, but I decided to take a chance and audition.”

* Jeb is from Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi, lives in Long Beach, Mississippi. And judging from his Facebook page, he’s been involved in music and theater for most of his life.

* For instance, back in 2014, he performed in The Addams Family musical comedy and Gypsy, a show directed by his father Bryan.

* He was also involved in a 2016 production of “Spring Awakening.” Again, the play was directed by his dad.

* Jeb doesn’t seem to have a YouTube channel, but head to his Instagram and you can hear covers of “Chasing Cars” and Lionel Richie’s “Like Sunday Morning.”

Keep checking back. More Season 18 profiles to come.
