And we’re likely to meet her on the new seasons’ premiere episode Sunday night.
Here’s more about Johanna.
* She advanced to Hollywood Week on Season 15 of Idol back in 2016; that would have been the show’s last season on FOX.
* Johanna didn’t get a lot of screen time, but called it “a wonderful experience” and said she was grateful to the opportunity to meet some of her personal idols.
* Originally from Las Vegas, she attended Brigham Young University, where she was part of the school’s commercial music program.
* Johanna hails from a musical family; her mother was a professional voice coach.
* In a 2013 interview with FOX13 in Salt Lake City, she described her sound as a combination of Sara Bareilles, Katy Perry and Sam Smith.
* Johanna was doing that interview because she’d just released her debut EP, a four-song collection called “All the Way.” You can check out the lyric video to the catchy pop tune below.
* Also check out two ballads on that EP — “What Happened” and “Don’t Need to Say You’re Sorry.” Both feature lovely vocals courtesy of Johanna.
* In a December Instagram post, Johanna admits she’s struggled with anxiety and depression for six years. “But being open and honest about my problems has changed my life. You have no idea how many people go though the same thing,” she writes.
* As for music, Johanna told FOX13: “I’ve basically been singing my whole life. It’s something I’ve always done. It’s my passion and my dream.”
