Jordan McCullough from American Idol Season 24

His audition: Jordan McCullough, 27, Murfreesboro, Tenn., performed “Goodness of God” by CeCe Winan: He immediately demonstrated a wonderful tone and nice range. His runs were very good too, if a bit overdone. He earned a standing ovation from the judges. Carrie Underwood said he gave her chills. Luke Bryan was impressed by his big voice. Lionel Richie praised his stage presence. Jordan breezed through to the next round.

Here’s more about Jordan:

* He’s a 27-year-old worship director serving at Zeal Church in Nashville, Tenn. He’s from Murfreesboro, Tenn.

* And Idol won’t be his first singing show audition. He auditioned for The Voice in the fall of 2019 (Season 17), singing Mario’s “Let Me Love You,” but failed to turn a chair.

* Here’s what Jordan told Sidelines at Middle Tennessee State University about the experience: “It didn’t devastate me. It didn’t disappoint me. Because the experience was so good. The people that I met. The knowledge that I got from it. It was just amazing, and I don’t think that I could trade a chair turn for that experience.”

* Jordan says family members introduced him to music at a young age and his uncle got him a spot in the church choir at age 4.

* The same year he appeared on The Voice, Jordan appeared on the popular The Terrell Show on YouTube as winner of he singing portion of a song association contest.

* Meanwhile, Zeal Worship has released five singles to streaming sites, including a song called “Offering” from 2022 that has more than 150,000 streams on Spotify.

* Jordan announced his Idol audition on Jan 20, writing “so grateful for the opportunity and trusting God with every step of the journey!”
