Her blind audition: Josie (Beth) Jones, 16, of Hamilton, Alabama, performed “Men and Mascara” by Julia Roberts. For her age, Josie immediately showed off nice, strong vocals. John Legend turned before she hit the chorus. As the performance neared its end, Blake Shelton turned as well. You got the feeling Josie was pressing to get that second chair turn. Gwen Stefani said Josie sounds like a “little baby Stevie Nicks.” John complimented her on a gorgeous tone. Blake praised her “laser” vocals. Josie decided to join Team Blake.

More on Josie …

* She told The Voice she loves country music because it’s all about relationships, trucks, fishing and hunting. “And that’s pretty much all the things I do.”

* Josie said her favorite thing to do is jamming out musically at family gatherings. “It’s usually about three guitars, everyone singing and lots of food.”

* According to her Voice bio, Josie started singing when she was a young girl, starting in church. And there’s plenty of YouTube video to back that up, including one of Josie taking the stage with a grown-up band when she was just 9.

* She’s also been involved in a number of singing competitions back home and won the Alabama Talent Hunt competition when she was 11. At the time, she listed her favorite artists as Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood and Merle Haggard.

* At the time, an interviewer asked young Josie is she’d consider following Carrie’s footsteps and trying out for American Idol. Her reaction: “Well, I might do American Idol, but I really want to be on The Voice.”

* In December, she paired up with Hamilton High School colleague Kate Warner as a duet and made it to the Top 15 in the National FFA Talent competition. They performed “Rich” by Maren Morris.

* Josie is also a member of a four-girl country / gospel group back home called Crossing Dixie with Valarie Robertson, Natalie Robertson and Brady Stults. The Voice says they’re Josie’s cousins and the group plays festivals and country fairs.
