Her audition: Juhi Pathak, 16, of Franklin, Tenn., sang Duffy’s “Mercy.” A run during the middle of the song prompted Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera to turn their chairs almost simultaneously. When the song ended and Juhi said she “was flipping out” over the fact that two chairs had turned, Cee Lo told her she seemed “completely cool singing that song and sounded great.”

Her background: A senior in high school, Juhi carries a GPA of 4.0+ and plans to study computer science or aerospace engineering in college. That is, if singing doesn’t work out. In fact, she says The Voice “is a way for me to understand, should I really be doing this.” She says her dad doesn’t sing, but is into rock music, something that has rubbed off on her. She says her singing ability comes from her mom, who performs classical Indian music. She’d like to become a cross between Amy Winehouse and Kurt Cobain.

What the show didn’t show: On Facebook, Juhi lists her genre as “everything, except country, and very limited to rap.” She encourages people to check out her music on bandcamp.com “if you’re feeling zesty.” Head there and you can find a pair of original songs — “The Good Ole Daze” and “No Meanings, No Problems” — that are available to download. Plus a host of covers, including three Nirvana tunes — “Old Age,” “On a Plain” and “Opinions.” Back home, Juhi attend Pace High School in Williamson County, Tenn.

On choosing Cee Lo: “As an artist, I think he understands the kind of things I want to do. We have similar styles. I just thought it was a good match.”

Quote: “I’m in high school. I’m on The Voice. This is intense. I’m not sure how I’ll manage both, but I’ll find a way.”

On iTunes: Just her Voice audition song.
