His audition: Kolby Cordell, 32, Ontario, Calif., performed “Never Too Much” by Luther Vandross. Kolby showed off strong vocals and stage presence. John Legend and Michael Buble turned early in his performance. John liked the way he made the song his own and said he heard “a lot of church” in Kolby’s vocals. Michael liked the spirit Kolby brough to the stage. Kolby decided to join Team Legend.

* He’s Kolby Cordell Robertson, a California born and based R&B artist.

* On his website, Kolby says he’s always had a passion for creating music that “speaks to the soul.”

* He describes his sound as R&B with a touch of soul, “a unique expression of his experiences and emotions.”

* Kolby’s already released music, with two singles currently on streaming sites — “Hello” from 2021 and “Don’t Call” from 2023.

* He’s been teasing the release of a new single called “Woosaah,” but it hasn’t landed yet. You can check out a snippet here.

* Kolby’s also a featured artist on a song called “Way 2 Blessed,” released by Doboy last year and included on his 2025 album “Hollywood Heartbreak.”

* In his ReverbNation bio, Kolby says he’s been singing since age 9. Early inspirations included his father, his grandmother, Jamie Foxx and Tank.

* Kolby’s also been performing with an event band called he 9 Zero Band, which specializes in performing the hottest hits from the 1990s and 2000s.

* Writes Kolby in one of his social media posts: “Life has thrown its punches, left cracks in my soul, but I’m still here. Broken doesn’t mean defeated it means I’ve fought, healed, and grown stronger The scars are proof that I’ve survived, and still shining.”

* Kolby has been working as a materials handler for the U.S. Forest Service and has a six-year-old son, Karter.
