Landen Starkman of Calabasas, Calif., auditioned for American Idol Season 18

American Idol returns for Season 18 on Sunday, Feb. 16.

Among the artists who have announced they announced is Landen Starkman.

Here’s more about Landen.

* He’s a 21-year-old graduate of Calabasas High School in Calabasas, Calif.

* While performing locally, he’s attending the Berklee School of Music Online for a degree in music business, according to his Panic Productions bio.

* He’s been performing since a young age. He started dancing at his grandmother’s dance studio when he was 3 and started singing at the same age; his dad was a singer.

* In 2009, he appeared with The Rage Boyz Crew as featured guests on Season 5 of So You Think You Can Dance.

* You’ll also find him on IMDb thanks to appearances in a pair of short films — “Spit” in 2011 and “Sessions” in 2014.

* He’s spent a lot of time on stage in musical theater performances, including “Next to Normal” in 2018 and “Shrek The Musical” last year.

* Landen released his first original music last February in the form of a five-song EP called “Freshman Year.” Check out his impassioned vocal on a track called “Please, Don’t Walk Away” below.

* “These songs that have been in my head and my heart for a while, but the feeling of finally having these words reach other people’s ears was so incredible,” he wrote on Facebook after performing the songs at a release party. “My blood, sweat, a few tears went into this EP.”

* Along the way, Landen has gained a bit of a following, to the tune of more than 6,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel and more than 22,000 for his Instagram page.
