With her hair teased into a mohawk and silver studs all over her ruffled black shirt, Michaela Paige showed up on The Voice stage looking like a contestant born for Team Cee Lo.
But these are blind auditions, and when the 16-year-old from Boca Raton, Fla., finished singing “Sober,” she found herself on Team Blake.
Exactly how that happened, we didn’t get to see since The Voice showed just the briefest snippet of Michaela’s audition.
But Blake seemed pleased, calling her “a standout in this competition” and saying he’s “honored to have you on my team.”
On the show, Michaela was identified as an internet radio show host, and that’s true.
Each Tuesday, she and best friends “Lizard” and DJ Jess host an all-woman talk show called “Off Topic” on W4WN.com. She also hosts a teen talk show and a “Pursue Your Dreams” segment.
But her W4WN bio also makes it clear she’s been doing this singing thing, pretty seriously, for a long time, even at age 16.
In 2006, she won a statewide Kellyoke contest and the opportunity to meet the original Idol, Kelly Clarkson. A year later, she released a self-titled CD.
More recently, she’s released a series of electronic dance singles, including “Make U Feel Good,” “One Less Lonely Girl” and ‘Magic Show,” which hit iTunes last week. You can head to her YouTube channel to check out some of her music.
In a recent conference call interview with the media, Michaela described herself as a “pop rock artist,” adding “I’ve got that punk in me.” But she’s also hoping viewers get to see “more of that lighthearted, fun, flirty teenage girl” in her as the show progresses.
She’s got a sense of humor, too. On her Voice blog, she lists the nine things that “freak me out.” The list includes driving, “at least in Boca Raton … retirement capital of the world.”
Now, back to that fashion sense … after all, her official Voice photos show her with green and black feathers on her shoulders …
“I used to keep in my shell a lot,” Michaela told Christina Milian. “And then I started experimenting with different things. Now it’s pretty much like this, all the time.
Man, did you miss out, Cee Lo.

We met Michaela trough a mutual friend Dawn Basham-Dipoalo the former Ms.Florida/Ms. USA 2006. She was helping out a group of kids from SHINE a school that teaches girls to sing and perform in many types of venues. When we heard Micaela sing that night we knew this girl had it ALL. The voice, the looks, the spark. She is such a creative young lady. We will be looking for team Blake to take the win again this year with Michaela.
