Neil Salsich from The Voice Season 23

The Voice returns to NBC on Monday, March 6.

Here’s more about Neil.

* He’s a St. Louis based musician and a member of The Mighty Pines, described as a roots-rock band on its Facebook page.

* Neil is a vocalist and plays guitar for the band, which also includes Gerard Erker, John Hussung and Mike Murano.

* Neil and Gerard are the primary songwriters for The Mighty Pines, and the band has lots of music out, including a trio of albums — “Late Last Night” from 2020, “The Mighty Pines Live” from 2018 and “Lonesome Blues” from 2017.

* In 2019 interview, he says Van Morrison and The Rolling Stones are major influences for the band.

* And he explains the roots rock label this way: “Our music is absolutely rooted in American traditions of folk, country and bluegrass.”

* Neil also performs outside the band setting, both as a solo artist and with other groups.

* For instance, in the summer of 2022, he joined the Voodoo band for a pair of tribute shows, one featuring music from Woodstock, another featuring the music of The Eagles.

* His bio on Folk School St. Louis indicates that Neil became fascinated with music around age 6 and performed his first show at age 16.

* After returning home from college, he formed a band called Acoustic Anonymous, according to that bio.

* Four years later, The Mighty Pines were formed. According to the band’s website bio, they’ve opened for JJ Grey & Mofro, The Dead South, Parker Millsap, Fruition and Sam Bush.

* Heck, they’ve even had a beer — called The Mighty Pines, of course — created in their honor by the 4 Hand Brewing Company, where they’ve often performed. The launch party is tonight (Friday, March 3).
