Raquel Trinidad from The Voice Season 21

Raquel Trinidad is among the artists who auditioned for Season 21 of The Voice.

Here’s more about Raquel. The Voice returns to NBC on Monday, Sept. 20.

* Raquel comes to The Voice with singing show experience, having finished in the Top 20 on Season 17 of American Idol.

* Her Idol audition didn’t air, but Raquel performed “Killing Me Softly,” Stevie Wonder’s “Living for the City” and an original song. Katy Perry, she said, predicted she could win the show.

* She made it to the televised Top 20 round at age 21, performing “Lovefool” by the Cardigans on solo night and Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer” with LovelyTheBand for her celebrity duet.

* Post-Idol, she collaborated with Bumbly, another Top 20 contestant from Season 17, on a single called “Let That Mango” as Bumbly + Raq.

* She’s also released solo music since Idol, including a single and music video for a song called “Vanilla Extract” and a six-song Christmas collection called “Christmasing” that includes a track in Spanish.

* Raquel released her latest single, the impressive “Static” in May. On Instagram, she explains that it’s a song she wrote about falling in love at age 16 before she ever had. “I have made so many different versions of this song over the years for potential release, but I decided to start from scratch on the recording & create a version that would really showcase the lyrical rawness of the song.” You can check out “Static” below.

* Born in the Chicago area, Raquel moved to Tampa, Florida, when she was young .

* Pre-Idol, she did voice over roles for animated TV shows, including the popular “Dora The Explorer.”
