Stelle Amor from American Idol Season 19

Stelle Amor is among the singers we’ll likely meet when American Idol kicks off Season 19 Sunday night.

Here’s more about Stelle:

* Born in Kansas and raised in Kentucky, she’s a Nashville-based artist who refers to herself as a soulternative siren.

* Stelle appeared on Season 2 of The Four on Fox and performed a unique version of “Mad World” that left judge Diddy pretty much speechless. But she was denied a chance to challenge for one of the show’s four chairs.

* Season 2 of The Four aired in the summer of 2018. Said Stelle at the time: “I’m on The Four to spread my message of love. My hope is that I can serenade the world like my soul was meant to.”

* She’s been pretty busy since. Stelle released four singles in 2020 — “SOS,” “Beyond Beautiful,” “100 Proof” and “Gateway Drug” — and she’s about to release a revamped version of “Problem Child.” That song appeared on her debut EP in 2017. You can check out “SOS” below.

* In her ReverbNation bio, Stelle says she began writing songs at a young age, influenced by the classic rock, blues and country albums her parents were always playing.

* Stelle also says she snuck into Steve Ray’s Blues Bar in Louisville, Kentucky, to sit in with the bands. “”Singing with those blues bands is when I realized my true calling as an artist and performer,” she says.

* At one point, she was also part of a side project called SideTripp, a trip-hop group that released a self-titled debut in 2017.

* On Instagram, Stelle is promoting her new single (“Problem Child”) and her latest YouTube cover (“Why Try to Change Me Now”), not her upcoming appearance on Idol.

Editor’s note: The season premiere of Idol airs Sunday from 8 to 10 p.m. on ABC.
