Her audition: Tatum Scott, 22, Nashville, Tenn., performed “Vampire” by Olivia Rodrigo: The Voice posted a preview of Tatum on YouTube Friday as a promo for Monday’s show. Tatum’s lovely tone and rasp prompts chair turns from John Legend and Kelsea Ballerini just a couple of lines into the song. Tatum finishes strong, showing off lots of on-stage confidence and a powerful voice as well. Tatum’s clearly thrilled that Kelsea turned, proclaiming “Hey, Kelsea girl. I love you.” Not taking any chances on losing Tatum, Kelsea approaches the stage, complimenting the singer on her lower register, calling it “so beautiful.” Still, John noted that he turned first and, unlike Kelsea, has experience coaching on the show. The promo clip The Voice posted ends before Tatum picks her choice. Viewers will have to tune in Monday to see her choice.

Here’s more about Tatum:

* She’s from High Point, N.C., and moved to Nashville in 2023 to pursue her dreams of making a career in music.

* Since arriving, she’s performed at the Country Music Hall of Fame and multiple times at The Listening Room. And in December, she made her debut at Whiskey Jam. “What a dream,” she wrote on Instagram.

* And she’s another of the Season 27 contestants who has already released music, with nearly a dozen singles out dating back to 2020. And in December, she dropped a cover of “Mistletoe” to celebrate the holiday season.

* She also has some Voice connections. For instance, in December 2023 she played a trio of Christmas shows with The Dryes, a country duo that competed on Season 22.

* According to her web bio, Tatum began singing at age 6. She attended Wesleyan Christian Academy and was involved in musical theater.

* She released two of those aforementioned singles — “Lady Bug” and “Won’t Be You” — in 2024.

* She co-wrote “Won’t Be You” and explains the song on Instagram, writing: “Healing can be hard after losing someone you were so close with. This can mean in a relationship or a friendship. Sometimes nobody compares to that one person, but there is always hope in finding someone new.”

* The excellent “Lady Bug” is her most recent single and dropped in late July. It’s also her most popular to date on Spotify, with more than 200,000 streams. You can check out a snippet below.

* Tatum’s also built quite a sizeable social media following with more than 145,000 followers on her TikTok.

* In announcing her upcoming appearance on The Voice, she writes: “If you know me, you know that I’ve always wanted to audition for The Voice!!!! Well… it’s happening!!”

Update: Since the show began Season 27, Tatum has released an acoustic version of her audition song, “Vampire.”
