His audition: Trevon Dawson, 17, Missouri, “Religiously” by Bailey Zimmerman: Only Adam Levine had a spot remaining when Trevon auditioned. And Trevon’s country vocals prompted a chair turn from a coach who’s been wanting a country singer on his team and was in a position where he didn’t have to compete with Kelsea Ballerini to land him. Trevon’s nerves showed early in the performance, but he found his groove on the chorus and wound up showing off a very powerful voice. Adam called his “way together” for a 17-year-old.

Here’s more about Trevon:

* He describes himself as a singer, songwriter and guitarist, inspired on Garth Brooks, Johnny Cash and his dad.

* Given those inspirations, you’d be correct in assuming his music leans toward country. During his Voice bio segment, Trevon explained that he does a little pop and a little rock, but mostly “red dirt, outlaw country” music.

* And while Trevon doesn’t appear to have released music, he’s featured originals on social media.

* “Take It From Me” is the most recent original featured on his Instagram. Head to YouTube and you can check out others, including “Us and This Place,” “Little Star” and the impressive “Bang Bang.”

* Back in May, at age 16, Trevon appeared on a local radio station and said he’s a native of southeast Missouri who moved to the Sedalia area about nine years ago.

* During the interview, he said he’d been singing for five years at that point, performing for four and aspires to one day perform with Garth Brooks.

* Trevon says he’s had no formal voice lessons other than from his dad, who used to sing and play guitar. Trevon says he inherited the rasp in his voice from his dad.

* He also played another original during the radio appearance, a song called “If,” about his grandparents, including a grandfather who passed before he was born.

* When he performs, Trevon often wears a hat handed down by that grandfather. In fact, if he’s not singing well, Trevon said he and his dad have a running joke that it’s because he’s not wearing his granddad’s hat.

* And original music from Trevon could be coming soon. In an October TikTok post, he announced that he was on his way to a recording studio to work on an upcoming EP. “I cannot explain how ecstatic I am. I’ve been waiting for this moment a long time.”
